No more zion, now Hepzibah
Isaiah 62
Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hepzibah...
The people of God were lifted by God that used Moses and Aaron for us to guide the people towards Canaan, the promised land, denominated by the own Lord as an earth where pours milk and honey, where the rain to do to increase the fruit of the farming would not lack and where the cattle nor the women would be sterile. A blessing place.
Even if Zion was the promised land something happened along the days that no more it was enough to the Lord. The people were yes in the promised land, however for many times it was totally put given to the sin and the adoration to the gods of other people, it looked for happiness in the carnal pleasures and this saddened a lot to the Lord. Not even the captivity, the slavery and the defeats in the wars were enough so that the people returned again to the Lord, until that the people understood, he heard prophet's Isaiah voice that declared him what God wanted for them.
Hepzibah, my friend, means my pleasure is in her." Zion was the promised land, but God didn't have any more pleasure in that people. That is something that you have to think a lot, because it can be that you do part of the group that is going to the church, it decimates, he cries in the presence of God, but that the Lord he doesn't have more pleasure in you and in your life, because you have been hiding in your life many sins that you do with that the Lord he doesn't have more pleasure in you.
God is telling you that he wants have pleasure in you again and for this it can be that you have to abandon his sin and to return for God completely.
Hepzibah is what God has for you.
The verse four ends saying: "and the Lord he will have pleasure in you." The whole chapter 62 brings wonderful blessings that God will spill about your life when feel pleasure in you again. The Lord vow that never again your wheat will be food for other, you will plant and you will pick. You will make the wine and you will drink of him. The Lord it will put sentries for us to keep you, sentries that will get tired never.
The verse ten makes an invitation: "pass, go by the doors!" We go, have courage of abandoning your sin. He doesn't import him as you if it feels comfortable with him, God invites you to abandon everything that moves away you of a life of sanctity. Throw the complacency away and look for the sanctity. Some observations we have to do as for this verse.
In first place the verb is put giving a sense of ordering here. God orders that you pass. This is not an invitation. To pass will demand attitude, to abandon the comfort place where you meet and it is this attitude that God demands from his people. To look for the sanctity will demand renouncement, however when you if it puts in movement same God it will help him. The Lord it will be your side and you will contemplate the marvels of God in your life. Never again you will see the fruit of your work escape from your hands. You will plant and you will pick the fruits.
Hepzibah, my friend. God invites you to Hepzibah. He wants to have pleasure in you. Will it be that you will choose to stay in Zion?
See you!
