What to do when you join to Christ
Colossians 3
When a person joins to Christ is as if she died with Christ for the things of the world and she resurrected together with Him should look for now, the things of the sky. It is this that treats the first verse of the book of Colossenses 3, however if we continue the reading we will see that some things should happen:
1. Mortify v.5 è In spite of already to have died for the world and me united to Christ still possesses a lot of things that are part of the nature than Paulo calls old man and these things should be mortified by me:
a. Prostitution – sin which I join my body with the other to practice the evil. Now my body is temple and home of the Holy Spirit of God. The own word declares that every sin is out of the body, but the prostitution is against the body;
b. Impurity – the word declares that I should look for the sanctification, because without it I won't see God.
c. Other things that I should mortify are the disordered appetite, the vile concupiscence and avarice.
2. Rob è To rob means to throw out, to abandon, don’t use. Paulo uses this verb in relation to these sinned by treating of sins that I can commit in the day by day, among them: angers, cholera, malice, slander and vile words.
3. Put on the new man è Since I undressed of sins, now I should cover myself of qualities worthy of a new man.
a. Bowels of mercies – I should love those that are still lost and far away from God with mercy.
b. Kindness
c. Humbleness of mind
d. Meenkess
e. Longsuffering
Paul knew a lot albeit this was not an easy task, for this he gave two rules for they be observed:
1. Forbearing one another – We should help ourselves mutually.
2. Forgiving one another – That is, when and no if, somebody to get hurt. Certainly somebody will get hurt and, when this happens me I should be ready to forgive.
To help us in these tasks we counted with three helps:
1. Love, bond of perfectness – The love does unite all of the things that they are completely different.
2. Peace of God – The peace accommodates the differences.
3. Word of Christ – The word teaches, it guides, and gives the direction to be proceeded.
The verse 17 gives the golden orientation: And whatever you do, in word or in act, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Christ is the only that can complete what lacks in us, because He already reached perfect male's stature and it can address us in the correct road.
See you!
