Blessed {is} the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. {ungodly: or, wicked} . But his delight {is} in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. {wither: Heb. fade}
Curious how the book of Psalms begins with God telling him what a man should do to be happy. According to the text, happy is the man who:
1 - Do not walk in the counsel of the wicked - We are to walk according to what guides us the word of God, on our way our life is always based on what is written in the word. To this we must know the Bible. Unfortunately many Christians do not read the Bible and therefore can not act on it.
2 - Nor standeth in the way of sinners - I should not hold with those who do not obey God. To these people I must testify, I preach, but never dwell on their way, because the Bible declares that their way leads to death.
3 - Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful - should never be part of the group of those who disregard God's word. These wheels the only thing you think is in how to sin. All acts demonstrate the scornful indifference to the things of God.
We can walk sometimes without direction, lost, not knowing which way to go, and this passage reveals that when we meditate and we guide our lives by the word of the Lord will be blessed. The word of God has all the answers we need, and assures us that if we meditate on it day and night, whatever we do, prosper.
